Markdown Without Leaving Home
A parser, a renderer, and a syntax highlighter, all on July 3 2026. Together they let a Tish program turn a Markdown file into HTML without leaving Tish.
tishdoc-parse reads Markdown and TishDoc, with YAML or JSON frontmatter. tishdoc-render-html turns that AST into safe semantic HTML: headings, lists, fenced code highlighted by the third package, blockquotes, GFM tables with column alignment, strikethrough, autolinks and directives. I was careful about the safety part. URLs in href and src are limited to http, https, mailto, and relative paths or fragments. Anything else, like javascript:, gets dropped and the link text renders as plain text.
I built these for extension marketplace pages, docs sites and lesson content, inside any host that wanted a Lattish and Tish only stack. By then I had a language, a playground, a learn site and a VS Code extension, and all of them needed to show text other people wrote. I could have used a JavaScript Markdown library, but I wanted the whole stack to be mine.
