Real Windows, Real Controls

Three days after the windowing crates I started the one I cared about most: a macOS AppKit host for Tish JSX, built on objc2 and published as tish:macos. I spent three days on it in April 2026.

Every UI experiment before this drew its own widgets: egui, Floem, wgpu. On a Mac that means the scrollbars, text selection and focus ring never feel quite right. This one doesn't draw anything. A Tish component tree becomes real AppKit windows and controls through Objective-C bindings.

The bridging was fiddly. AppKit is strict about ownership, the main thread, and who can create what and when.

There are two examples, hello and kitchen sink. The kitchen sink is where I found out which controls I'd actually wired up.
