Plugins All The Way Down
Git UI was a desktop Git client I worked on for two days in mid March 2026, built on Tauri 2 with React and Vite in front and Rust behind.
What I was really into was the plugin system. Features were supposed to come in as modules, so you could add Status, History and Branches without touching the app shell. There was a plugin type system, a registry, a documented API, and three built-ins: welcome, repos and settings.
I built the frame, the registry and the plugin API, and never got around to the plugins that would have shown diffs or history.
