Swipe Right On Repos
Hackathon day at the studio, and I picked the dumbest idea on the board: what if GitHub worked like a dating app. Swipe right on a repo you like, swipe left on the ones you don't.
I built it in React Native for Web on Expo 27, which in 2018 was the fastest way I knew to get a card stack running in a browser and on a phone from the same code. The gestures were most of the work. The rest was fetching repos.
Some AE hackathon projects turned into real things with a domain and a launch post. This one ended at 5pm the same day, but it made people laugh, and I got a lot of use out of knowing how to stand up an Expo app in an afternoon.
