A Synth In A Tab
Wavy used Tone.js for synthesis, tonal for music theory, a MIDI parser, TensorFlow.js because I was feeling ambitious, and lamejs to export an MP3, on Vite, React and TypeScript. I scaffolded it on bolt.new in one pass at the end of December 2024.
I wanted a music tool that lived entirely in a browser tab: type or play something, have the app figure out the key, play it with live oscillators, and hand you a file at the end. It turned out every piece I needed already existed in the browser.
Once I'd checked that the parts fit, I stopped. Wavy never got a second week, but what I learned about scheduling audio in a browser came back later when Deck became a language for music patches and deckard.lol ran four decks live.
