The Idea, Finally Built
In March 2026 I finally built the thing I'd been working toward for a year, and it went fast, because by then everything underneath it existed.
Tish-egui is egui bindings packaged as a Tish native module, a Rust crate published against tishlang_core, pulling in eframe, egui_extras, egui_plot and three-d. You build it with tish build examples/form-fields/src/main.tish, target native, native backend rust. Then the code editor example with feature all. Then a 3D viewer. You write .tish, compile straight to a native binary, and a window opens.
It started with Neon bindings and main-thread wrangling in May 2025, then a SwiftUI-style sketch in June, then wgpu and a gateway abstraction in September, all on a runtime that wasn't mine yet. Ten months later the runtime and the compiler were mine, the backend was a command-line flag, and I got to spend my time on the examples.
Form fields, a code editor and a 3D viewer are the three things I'd need to build an IDE, and I was building one.
