Gouda
A React-like UI framework that runs TSX in Bun and renders it natively through Rust and egui over Bun's FFI, with components, an egui renderer and a Tailwind-style class layer supporting basic elements, inputs, windows and inline CSS. The most complete of my egui experiments.

React Rendered By Rust
In September 2025 I spent six days on a framework named after a cheese. Gouda ran TSX in Bun and rendered it natively through Rust and egui over Bun's FFI: the TSX runtime on a background thread, egui on the main thread, IPC between them, and a virtual DOM renderer on the Rust side.
It was the last and most complete of a run of egui experiments: reactive bindings in May, a virtual DOM, an FFI layer, a Neon binding, and then this, with all the pieces in one workspace: core, components, an egui renderer and a Tailwind-style class layer. It supported div, a, b, i, Window, App, text, checkbox and radio inputs, and textarea. Inline CSS worked. Tailwind-like classes were next, and that's where it stopped.
What I wanted was to write UI the React way and run it as a native app instead of in a browser. Gouda went quiet on September 12. Later I was working on Tish full time, coming at the same idea by making the language compile to native itself.
