Dice With Real Physics
In late July 2025, in the middle of the year I spent teaching myself compilers, I took a break and made a board game. Fable and Fortune is a digital party RPG that runs in a browser, with Three.js drawing it, Cannon.js throwing the dice, and Tone.js generating the sound. I worked on it from July into September.
The dice are why it exists. You hold a power gauge to charge, and the roll is a real physics throw with collisions, not a random number with an animation on top. Everything else grew around that: a board generator for procedural paths, junctions and space meshes, a theme manager and model factory for the visuals, and an FPS tracker on F2, since I was aiming for 60 frames per second with a 45 floor and pooled particles capped around fifty.
Then I started restructuring it, moving a single index.html toward Unity-style GameObjects and Components, and got partway. There was an older Babylon.js version before the Three.js one. Twenty-one years earlier I'd been R&D lead at a small game studio, and I ended up building the engine again.
