Rebuilding The Front Door

Every few years I rebuild my own site, usually because I need a resume and don't want to make one in a word processor. In September 2023 I spent about six weeks of evenings on this one: Next.js 13, React 18 and Tailwind, deployed to Vercel.

devin.la goes back to January 2011, when the front page said "I'm Devin Smith, a Los Angeles based web developer, designer, software, video, guru" over a nav of bio, resume, portfolio, blog, download. By 2018 the title bar read "CTO, developer, designer, and beer geek" and there was a store and a cocktails section. After that the blog stopped and the site turned into more of a business card while most of my work wasn't public.

This rebuild was a nicer business card. It went up in autumn 2023, two months before I started at AEG Presents. space.la replaced it later, and this site is the third generation, built on a framework in a language that didn't exist in 2023.
