Free Texts To Anywhere
A free service to send SMS messages to SMS compatible devices. In 2003 texting cost money per message and often didn't work across carriers or borders, so a web form that just sent the text was handy.
I did all of it: user management, graphic design, layout, content, development, and hosting on my own servers. It ran on Gemini, my PHP CMS, which had been through enough versions by then to be a solid base. That's how I worked in those years: build the engine, then point it at whatever I wanted to make, so a new idea took a weekend instead of a month.
The design went all the way down to four favicon formats and a picture of a phone. Before I had it, the name belonged to a German ringtone site. It never made money because it was free. I just liked owning a useful thing end to end.
