Llama On The Laptop

TULAS stands for Tish and Uzu with LLaMA on Apple Silicon, and yes, it's a backronym. It's experimental.

It exposes Mirai's Uzu inference engine to Tish as a Rust crate, so a Tish script can download a model bundle and run Llama locally on Apple chips. There are demos called tish-llm and tish-count-tokens, and a benchmark that writes a report.

March 2026, the same month Tish's first crate hit crates.io. Once the language existed I wanted to see what it could reach, and local inference was near the top of the list.
