Go Takes A Lane
Performance testing Go, Gin, and Postgres inserts. That was the whole brief.
Go was the runtime I was most curious about in 2016. Gin was the popular web framework, Postgres was what I'd actually be storing things in, and inserts were what I cared about because that's where the studio's client projects were slow. I set it up with a Heroku deploy target so I could run it somewhere besides my laptop.
I built three of these under the tracknfield name in about thirty hours, one per language, all the same shape: Go here, Node the same day, Scala the next morning. Since I wrote all three the same simple way, I trusted the comparison.
