The Scala Lane
The third lane, added the morning after the other two. Scala with Play against Postgres, the same simple insert loop. Build with sbt, run with heroku local, measure.
I'd spent the least time with Scala of the three, so I wanted it in there. In 2016 the JVM came up a lot in throughput conversations, and I wanted to have actually compiled something. sbt was slow to build.
That finished the tracknfield experiment: three languages in thirty hours. I never wrote up the numbers, which I regret. Nine years later I'd end up building my own language in Rust.
