The Same Weekend Again
In 2017 I built a WhatsApp clone in a weekend and it became Ionic Video Chat, a paid starter on the Ionic Market. On August 29th, 2019, I started building video chat again, this time in React Native.
Expo SDK 34, react-navigation for the screens, and the web target through expo start --web, which was finally officially supported. Done by the 30th.
In 2017 that app was Ionic, Angular, Cordova and a native build. In 2019 the same thing could be one React Native codebase running on iOS, Android and the web from one command, so I wanted to see if the starter could live again on that.
Two days, and then it stopped. The calling was going to be react-native-webrtc and socket.io.
