Is That Name Taken
December 1st, 2018: an Express and MongoDB API in front of Enom. JWT and bcrypt for auth, Facebook login for people who didn't want another password, and rate limiting on the front, since a domain search endpoint is something strangers will hammer.
It did two things: check whether a domain is available, and manage DNS records for ones you already have. It was nice to strip registrar stuff down to two clean endpoints.
The rate limiting mattered because availability lookups cost money per query at the registrar, and an open endpoint could burn through the balance overnight.
