Tagging The Oldest Thing
On November 29th, 2015 I cut v2.2.0 of osFileManager and labeled it an archive release. The code was much older. I registered it on SourceForge on July 3rd, 2003, as a PHP file manager with a user control panel, an admin control panel, and the basics: list, open, view, edit, create, upload, rename, move. Users could change their password and color scheme. Admins could add and delete users. It had themes, because everything in 2003 had themes.
By then I wasn't supporting it anymore and was pointing people to Cheryl, the third version of the same idea, in PHP and AngularJS at cheryl.io. osFileManager had its own domain too, osfilemanager.com, from 2008.
I keep coming back to file managers: Libra in 2003, osFileManager, Cheryl, and more after. Tagging the 2003 version in 2015 was just bookkeeping. I retired it for good in November 2025, twenty-two years after I started it.
