ARKit On A Styled Map
The last weekend of June 2018 I put a camera on top of a map. June 29th to July 1st, Expo React Native, with expo-three and expo-graphics doing the rendering and ARKit underneath.
There were two halves: a styled map with the labels stripped and everything recolored so it looked like a game board, and an ARKit camera view where a 3D object sits in real space and stays put when you move. Basically a Pokemon Go style capture experiment.
What got me excited was expo-graphics. ARKit was less than a year old, and before Expo wrapped it you needed a native Xcode project and Swift to use it. Getting world tracking from a JavaScript project that runs off a QR code was the fun part.
It stopped after three days. On July 2nd I started an Ethereum wallet.
