Swiping Through Generated Art
By October 2023 you could make a hundred AI images in an afternoon, and then you had a hundred images and no good way to look through them on a phone.
So I spent two days on expo-ai-images: Expo with React Native 0.72, expo-image-picker to pull images off the device, a carousel to move through them, and touchable-scale so a tap presses in like a native control. Nothing in it calls a model. It's the browsing and picking side.
The touchable-scale part was the bit I cared about most. Having a card react when you tap it makes a grid of images feel like an app.
Two days, then done. It was part of a run of quick framework tests that fall: Expo here, Next.js the next week, Nuxt after that, Flutter twice before Christmas.
