The Month Images Got Good
In October 2023 generative images got good, and I ended up building six apps around them in two weeks. Sixpix was one of them: an Expo Router app in React Native for iOS and Android under the Knoeone label, with a companion Next.js service called next-ai-images that talked to Replicate and OpenAI.
Setup was Flaticon for the icons, a Replicate API key, Poppins from Google Fonts, Vercel for the backend, and next-ai-images running before the app would do anything.
Around it in the same two weeks: Expo AI Images on the 5th, Next Social on the 13th, a Nuxt AI resume builder on the 14th, Nanana and Pitbull on the 16th. Same idea, different stack each time. I wanted to try the new stuff from a bunch of angles at once and see which stack felt best.
