The Arzy Dot Network
In October 2005 all of arzy.net was four words: The Arzy .Network. Behind it were the servers everything else ran on.
By 2008 it had grown up into a company site. Somewhere in there the personal network became a company with a legal name, a jobs page and a press page, and started putting out open source under its own name instead of mine.
Arzy was the umbrella ArzDev and ArzHost sat under, so it was always more of a holding company and hostname than a website. And yes, I put a dot in the middle of the name. It was 2005.
The Arzy Network
In October 2005 the whole arzy.net front page was four words, "The Arzy .Network," and nothing else. By 2008 it was a company site, with a Jobs page.
Arzy was the name I used for the freelance and hosting work. Arzynik, ArzDev, ArzHost and arzy.net were all me, mostly on the same server, with the site, mail and config in one hosting account. It stopped changing in October 2008.
Sliced In ImageReady
The page was newhome.html and its title tag said "newhome," because I never went back and changed it. ImageReady built the rest from Slices (newhome.psd): a table, 410 by 290, seventeen columns of PNG fragments and spacer gifs, with colspan and rowspan all over the place. That's how I shipped a design in 2006: draw it in Photoshop, add guides, and let Adobe spit out a table that put the picture back together in the browser.
It was the front page for The Arzy .Network, dot and all. Under it were ArzHost, ArzDev and ArzBeta, so the hosting, the freelance work and whatever I was still working on each got a name and a spot in the same nav. By 2008 it had become Arzy LLC, with Home, Services, Opensource, Jobs, Press and Support across the top, "Loading, please wait..." in the middle while the Flash loaded, and a footer reading copyright 2006 Arzy LLC all rights reserved.
It had Jobs and Press pages, and it was just me with some servers. But it looked like a company.
