Arzbeta

Arzbeta.com (2003-2005), my donation-supported hub of free services that hosted my side projects: apez, arzenc, chat, dino, eltoro, gemini, groovegate, hydrus, gallery, cards and more.

The Backend And Free Services

The index page of arzbeta.com said it was the backend and the free services, all supported by donations only, and if you couldn't afford to donate, at least drop me a line and say thanks. Then a copyright line with my name. That was the business model.

Behind it was everything I was making at the time: apez, arzenc, chat, dino, eltoro, gemini, groovegate, hydrus, gallery, cards, encrypt, flashservices, an ads folder and a google folder. Everything shared one content.php wrapper so it all looked like one site. It ran from August 2003 to June 2005.

It was called beta because things went there first, and some never left. Gemini became the CMS I sold licenses for. Hydrus was stat tracking. The gallery work turned into Crux and later osGallery. AspenTreeMedia paid the rent, and most of what I made in the Utah years went through arzbeta first.

Arzynik Backend, Donations Only

In March 2005 my staging server's front page was titled "Arzynik Backend." It was a list of links: ArzDev Development. ArzHost Web Host. Gemini Test site. Crux Gallery. PHP Encrypter/Decrypter. SMS. Easy Web Mailer. Onsite PHP tester. Reverse a String. IRC. Public Files. RagDB. Google Tools. Jordoom. WitGi. Radio. Resume, in HTML and in DOC.

Underneath was my pitch: "Arzbeta.com is the backend and free services. All these services are supported by donations only. Please give your suport if you appreciate any of these services. And if you cant afford to donate, at lease drop me a line and thank me for them." Typos and all, I meant it.

Its databases covered 2005 through 2009: Drupal, galleries, Libra, LitePay, MiniURL, KruLive, Redefined, a resume site, a todo app. Everything went here before it went live.

In 2013 I finally left a note on it: "this entire site has been dead since like 2006 but i never put a message here."
