Kittychat On Ratchet
Kittychat, December 2015: a small websocket chat app in PHP.
It was built on Tipsy 0.10.3, my own PHP microframework, and Ratchet 0.3.3, which was how you did websockets in PHP back then. Most people would have used node, but I wanted to see if my framework could hold a long-lived connection, and a chat app is the easiest way to test that. It was set up to run on Heroku.
Setting up dockerphish and patching mcrypt into PHP 7 builds were part of the same push, taking my PHP stack into new places to see where it broke.
