A Portal With A PIN On It
At the end of June 2018 we started an API and a site for Samsung NEXT on the same day, and worked on them for a year. It was a member portal for startups, advisors and investors, each group let in through PIN-coded registration and each seeing its own view of the same directory.
The API was TypeScript on Node, Knex over Postgres, Elasticsearch for search, all running under docker-compose so anyone on the team could spin it up. The site was React, with LinkedIn login since that's where the members already were, and Mixpanel for analytics. We kept the stack simple so four of us could pass it back and forth for a year.
It was a busy stretch. Mail Princess had started in March, the crypto tooling was still going, and there were prototypes called Ride, Cruise and Poke around it. The portal outlasted all of them, and the work ran until July 2019.
