A minimal Node/Express API over Give.mobi's existing MySQL database using Sequelize, JWT auth and PayPal Express Checkout, written to run on Heroku as a later replacement for the original PHP backend.

Going Back For The Backend
Four years after I stopped being CTO there, I sat down and started rewriting Give.mobi's backend. It was one day of work, October 26th, 2016, replacing PHP I'd written myself years earlier.
I kept it small. Node and Express in front of the existing MySQL database, Sequelize doing the mapping so I didn't have to redefine a schema that already worked, JWT for auth, PayPal Express Checkout for payments, and set up to run on Heroku. The plan was to leave the data alone and move endpoints over one at a time.
give.mobi ran from 2011 through 2019, so it was still live while I did this and for three years after. I wrote the skeleton that Wednesday and then got pulled onto other things.
