FriendBot for MySpace
The Windows desktop automation suite behind my FriendBot company (2005-2009): a Visual Studio 2005 .NET solution with the myspacebot core, browserBot, friend accepter and extractor, an auto-updater and installers. This is the product that added friends, sent messages and grew MySpace profiles for paying users.

Visual Studio, Of All Things
On September 23, 2005 I started a project called myspacebot in Visual Studio 2005. Everything else I built that year was PHP on Linux, but this one had to run on other people's Windows machines and drive a browser, so it was Windows and .NET.
It was set up as a product from the start: a myspacebot core, browserBot for driving the browser, fbAccepter for accepting friend requests, friendExtract for pulling profiles, an auto-updater, build tools for the installers, and an icon.
This became FriendBot, the company. It added friends, sent messages and grew profiles for paying customers, and it was profitable from day one. Most of the core was done by the end of 2006 and the product ran on it for years.
